Quickstart

Set up a wallet, get some ETH on Robinhood Chain and buy your first CAST token.

Before you start

You need two things:

  • A browser wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby.
  • A little ETH on Robinhood Chain for gas. To buy a token paired with USDG or a stock token, you also need some of that asset.
Real money
CAST runs on Robinhood Chain. Everything here has real value and every trade is final. New tokens are risky: read the risks first.

Add the network

Press Connect at the top of any page. If your wallet is on another network, CAST shows a Switch to Robinhood Chain button that adds and selects it for you. To add it by hand, use these settings:

Network name
Robinhood Chain
RPC URL
https://rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com
Chain ID
4663
Currency symbol
ETH
Block explorer
https://robinhoodchain.blockscout.com

Signing in

Right after you connect a wallet, CAST asks it to sign a short message that starts with Sign in to CAST. Signing is free. It sends no transaction and costs no gas. It proves the wallet is yours, so CAST can keep a few things for it off-chain:

  • Making and saving rule templates in the Rulebook.
  • Changing your token's image and links without a new signature for each change.

You don't need to sign in to trade, launch or collect rewards. If you decline, nothing breaks: the Rulebook shows a sign-in button when you need it, and image and link changes ask for their own signature instead.

CAST only asks after a fresh connect. It doesn't ask when your wallet reconnects as a page loads, or when that wallet is already signed in. A sign-in lasts 30 days, kept in a cookie in this browser. To sign out, disconnect your wallet, either with Disconnect in the wallet menu at the top of the page or from your wallet app.

Check the message
The message names your wallet, the site you're on, a one-time code and the time. Only sign it when the site it names is the CAST site you have open. See Your wallet.

Get funds

Every transaction pays a small gas fee in ETH, so start with ETH whatever you plan to buy. Bring ETH to Robinhood Chain with one of the routes in Robinhood's bridging guide.

Each token trades against one paired asset, and you buy it with that asset. A token paired with ETH needs nothing more. USDG and Robinhood's stock tokens can be bridged or bought on Robinhood Chain. Stock tokens aren't offered to US persons. To see one in your wallet, add it as a custom token with its address from Pairs.

Buy a token

  1. Pick a token

Open Explore. Each card shows the token's fairness grade, its stage and what a buy costs right now.
  2. Read the rules

On the token page, the Fee Clock shows what a buy and a sell cost at this moment and when that changes next. Below it, every sealed rule is listed with its full schedule.
  3. Enter an amount

Type how much to spend, in the token's paired asset. The trade panel shows the fee, about how many tokens you'll get and the least you could receive after slippage.
  4. Confirm in your wallet

Confirm the transaction. Robinhood Chain confirms in about a second, and the trade shows up in the token's recent trades.

If the token is paired with USDG or a test stock, your wallet first asks you to sign a permit. It's a free signature that lets the CAST Router take exactly that amount, so you don't need a separate approval.

Buying in the first minutes
Bot Tax applies to every buyer while it lasts, not only bots. It can be up to 50% and must reach 0% within 24 hours of launch. If the Fee Clock shows a high Bot Tax, waiting a few minutes can make the same buy much cheaper. See Bot Tax.

After you buy

  • Your Hold Streak starts counting. On some tokens a longer streak lowers your sell fee.
  • You start earning a share of every fee, paid in the token's paired asset. See and collect it on your profile. More in Holder rewards.
  • Selling any amount restarts your Hold Streak. Buying and selling covers the rest.
