Hold Streak
How long you've held, and how it can lower your sell fee.
What it is
Your Hold Streak is how long your wallet has held a token, in seconds, tracked by the token itself. A creator can make the sell fee follow Hold Streak instead of time, so the longer you've held, the less you pay to sell. The Diamond Hands template works like this:
| You've held | Sell fee |
|---|---|
| Less than 7 days | 4% |
| 7 to 30 days | 2% |
| 30 days or more | 0% |
Only the sell fee can follow Hold Streak, and it can never go above 10% at any streak, even during the Shield window.
Buying more blends it
New tokens arrive with a streak of zero and blend with what you already hold, weighted by amount. A long streak on a small balance can't cover a big new buy.
- You hold
- 1,000 tokens, held 30 days
- You buy
- 1,000 more (streak 0)
- Your new streak
- 15 days on 2,000 tokens
Selling restarts it
Selling any amount restarts the streak from zero for the tokens you keep. If you sell everything, the streak is cleared. Before you sell, the trade panel shows your current sell fee and when your next discount arrives, so you can decide whether to wait.
Transfers start at zero
Your Hold Streak counts how long this wallet has held. Every token it receives starts at zero, wherever it comes from: a buy in the CAST pool or anywhere else, another wallet, or any contract. Incoming tokens blend with your balance by amount, exactly like a buy. Sending tokens away doesn't change the streak on what the sending wallet keeps.
Use the CAST Router
When you sell, the Fee Hook needs to know whose streak to use. Only the CAST Router tells it. Sell through another router or app and the hook sees no streak, so you pay the sell fee for a streak of zero. Every sell on this site goes through the CAST Router. Developers: see Quotes and trades.
